Our 2014 activities
- 7–9 March 9 participants in 3 jeeps, accommodated at the CAF chalet in Vauchignon. After visiting the Roman camp at Chassey, we carried out a remembrance route of the "St-Bérain/Dheune armoured train" neutralised in September 1944 by a detachment of the 1st Army. We gathered the recollections of Madame Gougler, who opened her archives to us. A successful experiment in sending a USB stick by carrier pigeon. The next day: Mass at the Val St-Benoît monastery and a circuit via the Château de Sully.
- 1–3 August Maquisards No. 9, 8 participants in 4 jeeps, accommodation in Gergy. An advance towards St-Romain with a tactical raid theme. In the afternoon, an attack on André's airfield while evading his aerial observation. Then a visit to Bernard's collection of German jeeps, notably his Schwimmwagen. The next day, a raid due south in the footsteps of the Blanot maquis, told to us by Madame Commerçon at the site of the Charcuble chapel. Alas, bogged down and drenched by a storm, we were unable to reach the Crue farm, once a refuge of the Blanot maquis.
- 3–6 September 12 participants in 10 jeeps to support the celebrations of the 70 years of the Liberation of Sennecey-le-Grand and Chalon-sur-Saône. The large public greatly enjoyed the short jeep circuits showing, with explanations, the key sites of this history. Period military vehicles gathered for the official ceremony of 4 September at the Ruffey SAS memorial. Our friends Michel and Michel, who came up from the south, were there with their authentic SAS jeep saved from the sands of Tunisia.
Our plans for 2015
- To find a patron for our "Resistance 1944 and Patriotism" theme park project.
- To reach the Crue farm.
- To offer an introduction to tactical manoeuvring in jeeps.
- To recruit new participants, notably teenagers with a parent.
